The Board of Directors determines the goals, sets the direction, and approves or denies all policy matters of the Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS®. The membership of the Association has entrusted its Board of Directors and Officers with the duty and responsibility to manage the affairs of the corporation for the benefit of the membership and the public it serves.
The divergent interests of the Association and MLS membership are addressed in specialized committees that serve as a forum to help develop effective policies and day-to-day operations. Committee meetings are the training grounds for future leaders of the Association.
The Awards Committee selects and publicly recognizes Association members who have performed outstanding services to the Association and/or the community.
Budget & Finance Committee
The Budget & Finance Committee reviews monthly financial statements, investment policies and cash flow, and prepares the annual budgets for submission to the Board of Directors.
Each year the California Association of REALTORS® seeks to include the best and brightest from within the industry as members and leaders of a variety of C.A.R. Committees. Members sitting on these committees are dedicated to real estate and are committed to attending three annual meetings a year.
The Education Committee develops and provides programs and seminars on a regular basis to meet the educational requirements of members.
The Events Committee arranges social programs for the Association members and coordinates fundraising projects for local charities.
Government Relations Committee
The Government Relations Committee monitors legislative matters at all levels of government. Keeps members informed and coordinates with members of allied industries in an effort to solve mutual problems.
The Grievance Committee serves to review ethics complaints to insure the proper articles and sections of the Code of Ethics are cited based on the alleged facts and screen complaints in order to prevent abuse and harassment. The committee considered allegations of unethical conduct or violations of the MLS rules. The Grievance Committee does not determine guilt or innocence.
Multiple Listing Service Committee
The Multiple Listing Service Committee monitors MLS procedures, recommends improvements to current systems, reviews costs and enforces MLS rules and regulations.
The Ombudsmen’s role is one of communication and conciliation, not adjudication. Ombudsmen can help identify and resolved misunderstandings and disagreements before matters ripen into disputes and possible charges of unethical conduct.
Professional Standards Committee
The Professional Standards Committee holds hearings and makes decisions regarding ethics violations and arbitrations. This committee is charged with the enforcement of the Code of Ethics and Membership Pledge and the MLS Rules, the disciplining of members, and the arbitration of disputes.
REALTOR® Action Fund Committee
The REALTOR® Action Fund Committee educates and encourages REALTORS® to invest in the REALTOR® Action Fund. The RAF Committee raises funds for the REALTOR® Action Fund which is used to promote the values, attitudes, and beliefs of organized real estate; every dollar is used to protect and advance REALTORS® interests in government.
Statistical Review Committee
The Statistical Review Committee organizes The Economic Forecast and presents statistics for members and the public.
Community Outreach Committee
The goals of this committee are to continue to assist the members of the Santa Barbara community who are in need by supporting charities through our annual fundraising efforts and to continue to raise awareness within our Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS® Membership and the general public.
YPN (Young Professionals Network)
Santa Barbara Association of REALTORS® chapter of the Young Professional Network is focused on becoming exceptional members of their community by demonstrating a high level of realtor professionalism and volunteering for causes they feel passionate about.
